ATL Haulage Joins DP World’s EVITA Trial to Help Shape the Future of Zero-Emission Container Transport

ATL Haulage is proud to be part of the second phase of DP World’s Low Carbon Truck Programme, taking part in the Electric Vehicle Introduction and Transition Accelerator (EVITA) trial.

As part of the programme, we’ve taken delivery of a MAN electric HGV, which is now operating on real container haulage routes and customer movements. Rather than testing electric vehicles in controlled environments, EVITA is designed to help hauliers understand how zero-emission trucks perform in day-to-day operations, providing practical insight before long-term investment decisions are made.

Putting Electric HGVs to the Test

With operations spanning DP World London Gateway, Felixstowe and Southampton, and a fleet of more than 200 trucks, ATL Haulage understands the demands of container transport.

That’s why this trial matters.

By integrating an electric HGV into our daily operations, we’re able to evaluate everything from vehicle range and charging requirements to route suitability, driver experience and operational planning. The aim isn’t simply to trial new technology. It’s to build the knowledge and confidence needed to support the future of sustainable container haulage.

Turning Operational Data Into Real-World Insight

The transition to zero-emission freight is one of the biggest changes the road transport industry has faced.

Programmes like EVITA help remove uncertainty by allowing operators to test, learn and adapt using operational data instead of theory. Every journey provides valuable insight into how electric HGVs perform across live container movements, helping fleet operators make informed decisions about future investment.

For ATL Haulage, this is an opportunity to understand how emerging technology can be successfully integrated into everyday logistics while continuing to deliver the reliable service our customers expect.

Supporting a Lower-Carbon Future

DP World’s Low Carbon Truck Programme is helping accelerate the adoption of lower-emission freight across the UK. Alongside trials of fully electric HGVs through EVITA, the programme also supports the use of alternative fuels such as HVO, giving operators practical ways to reduce emissions while preparing for the future.

We’re proud to be playing our part in helping shape the future of sustainable container transport and supporting the transition to lower-carbon logistics.
